I don’t think I made myself very clear yesterday. I’m thinking this because there is some dispute as to what a miracle is.

While I agree that watching a child being born (especially your own or one close to you), being treated in certain ways, and feeling specific feelings are all daily wonders, they don’t fit the textbook definition of a miracle.

Miracles are once in a lifetime occurrences. They aren’t things that will happen again. They aren’t things that happen on a daily basis (like childbirth).

We can define our own miracles but they wouldn’t necessarily be a miracle in regards to the definition of a miracle.

I wanted to know if you had ever witnessed someone healing another person by the touch of a hand or spontaneous happenings that had no definition.

I don’t know if they exist.

A child is a miracle to us. Yes. But a child is not a miracle to nature. Babies are born every second of every day.

I wanted to hear about miracles that could not be explained by science or human nature. I wanted to know if they exist.

I’m sorry for the confusion.

I think miracles are an interesting concept. The Roman Catholic church has regulations and bylaws regarding miracles and what can be claimed as a miracle (thereby leading to canonization, theoretically).

People claim that things are miracles all of the time. We have miracle babies (and while I do think that giving birth is one of the most amazing things in the world…is it a miracle???), miracle miles, etc. Aren’t miracles supposed to be a once in a lifetime thing? Isn’t that what makes them miracles?

So…now ABC has this new show, Miracles. It started off with an employee of THE CHURCH (heh) going around and confirming or denying miracles. He gets tired of this because there are so few miracles and goes on a sabbatical from chasing miracles. Whew! That’s a mouthful.

He lands in Arizona (it’s a place full of miracles, let me tell you…we have the Grand Canyon, afterall!) and goes to Cottonwood (which is in the high desert, central Arizona) to meet a boy who can heal people by touching them. Problem is, it’s killing the boy.

The man witnesses a true miracle but then the boy has to die to save the man who can go on to witness more miracles.

The problem is…we’re now into the paranormal. Last night’s episode played on “entities” that want to kill mankind.

What does that have to do with a miracle? I dunno…but the show is kind of interesting, anyway. Heh.

This word came to me in a silly commercial on the radio this morning. It reminded me of the show last night. It made me think of what a real miracle would be.

I haven’t seen one. Have you?

This word choice comes to me because I have two bottles of water sitting on the desk in front of me and water is such an important part of our lives.

I was listening to “The Motley Fool” on NPR this weekend and one of the callers was a water conservationist from the San Francisco Bay area. The guys asked her to promote water conservation in 30 seconds. She said to drink more beer and pop and not water to conserve water. Hmmmmmm…except that I’m sure that the manufacturing of both of those takes up FAR more water than a person would drink.

I read recently that all humans shouldn’t drink 6-8 8 ounce glasses of water a day. This article said that each person’s body is different (obviously) and requires different amounts of water. It went on to say that those people who only require 4 glasses a day could be over-saturating their bodies and could end up with water poisoning (which is quite dangerous).

I’m picky about the kinds of water I drink. I don’t really like the taste of most tap water (unless it’s from a good well). I tend to like sweeter water. I don’t like most bottled waters but prefer Dasani if I’m going to drink bottled water. In fact, currently, I’m drinking a lot of Propel. It has that sweetness that I crave but it’s still all water.

I’m strange, I think. Most people tell me that they can’t taste a difference in bottled water. I can, though. I’ve had some that taste almost gritty or dirty to me. Yuck. Blech.

Water is a strange thing. I don’t really crave it. I have to force myself to drink it most of the time. And I don’t like it cold. It has to be room temperature.

Ok…maybe it’s not water that is the strange thing…but me. I already knew that, though. Heh.

All right…now you all get to see my dirty little secret come out. Heh.

I watch a lot of reality tv. I don’t know why but I’m drawn to it like a deer in the headlights. Ugh. It’s ugly. It’s dirty. It’s the worst of the worst and yet I go back again and again. Maybe my life is too boring and I have to spice it up with really ugly humanity. I dunno.

Ok…so, anyway…I’m watching The Bachelorette last night and I notice that Trista talks baby talk all of the time. I don’t mean occasionally, I mean that she uses it carelessly and constantly. It started grating on my nerves.

I’m not a big fan of baby talk with babies, even. I talk to my niece and nephew in my normal voice, for the most part. I speak more quietly with them but it is normal language. I’m put off by baby talk. It’s silly, to me, to hear an adult speaking as if he or she is a little kid.

I guess I’m wondering if this is attractive to other people. It must be to some because Trista isn’t doing too badly with the men she’s stringing along. They keep coming back.

found journaling ~ friend

Sometimes I think this word gets a bad rap. You can’t tell someone (especially somoene of the opposite sex or someone who may be potential partner material) that you want to be their friend because it is looked upon as something bizarre.

“I want to be your friend.” Well, yeah. Is there something wrong with being upfront about that? There are plenty of people that I would really like to get to know on a more personal level and become friends with. There are people from here that I would LOVE to meet in person and enjoy their company.

I have acquaintances that I would like to call friend. There are people in my life who are on the cusp of becoming more like friends but aren’t quite there. There are people who may be friend but may have potential to be even more.

I have siblings who consider their partners their best friends. I think that’s the way it should be. If your partner isn’t your best friend first and foremost, do you really have a chance at the long haul? And even if they aren’t your *best* friend, shouldn’t you be friends? Shouldn’t you enjoy being together, sharing time, laughing, crying, whatever?

I think there are enough animosities and difficulties in this world without taking time to cherish those who truly do matter in our lives…those who we do call friend, who we would like to call friend.
