Today’s “Found” Journaling word is:
Water
This word choice comes to me because I have two bottles of water sitting on the desk in front of me and water is such an important part of our lives.
I was listening to “The Motley Fool” on NPR this weekend and one of the callers was a water conservationist from the San Francisco Bay area. The guys asked her to promote water conservation in 30 seconds. She said to drink more beer and pop and not water to conserve water. Hmmmmmm…except that I’m sure that the manufacturing of both of those takes up FAR more water than a person would drink.
I read recently that all humans shouldn’t drink 6-8 8 ounce glasses of water a day. This article said that each person’s body is different (obviously) and requires different amounts of water. It went on to say that those people who only require 4 glasses a day could be over-saturating their bodies and could end up with water poisoning (which is quite dangerous).
I’m picky about the kinds of water I drink. I don’t really like the taste of most tap water (unless it’s from a good well). I tend to like sweeter water. I don’t like most bottled waters but prefer Dasani if I’m going to drink bottled water. In fact, currently, I’m drinking a lot of Propel. It has that sweetness that I crave but it’s still all water.
I’m strange, I think. Most people tell me that they can’t taste a difference in bottled water. I can, though. I’ve had some that taste almost gritty or dirty to me. Yuck. Blech.
Water is a strange thing. I don’t really crave it. I have to force myself to drink it most of the time. And I don’t like it cold. It has to be room temperature.
Ok…maybe it’s not water that is the strange thing…but me. I already knew that, though. Heh.
I’m probably not as picky about it as you, but I agree that there is a taste difference in bottled waters. I also prefer sweeter waters, and will have to try the Propel – even though I normally staunchly avoid anything with the word “fitness” associated with it!
