Miracles

I think miracles are an interesting concept. The Roman Catholic church has regulations and bylaws regarding miracles and what can be claimed as a miracle (thereby leading to canonization, theoretically).

People claim that things are miracles all of the time. We have miracle babies (and while I do think that giving birth is one of the most amazing things in the world…is it a miracle???), miracle miles, etc. Aren’t miracles supposed to be a once in a lifetime thing? Isn’t that what makes them miracles?

So…now ABC has this new show, Miracles. It started off with an employee of THE CHURCH (heh) going around and confirming or denying miracles. He gets tired of this because there are so few miracles and goes on a sabbatical from chasing miracles. Whew! That’s a mouthful.

He lands in Arizona (it’s a place full of miracles, let me tell you…we have the Grand Canyon, afterall! ) and goes to Cottonwood (which is in the high desert, central Arizona) to meet a boy who can heal people by touching them. Problem is, it’s killing the boy.

The man witnessing a true miracle but then the boy has to die to save the man who can go on to witness more miracles.

The problem is…we’re now into the paranormal. Last night’s episode played on “entities” that want to kill mankind.

What does that have to do with a miracle? I dunno…but the show is kind of interesting, anyway. Heh.

This word came to me in a silly commercial on the radio this morning. It reminded me of the show last night. It made me think of what a real miracle would be.

I haven’t seen one. Have you?
