As for grad school thoughts, one thing to consider is that terminal master&#039;s programs (e.g. MA only) don&#039;t tend to fund students (exceptions exist, but they&#039;re rare), while PhD programs fund students far more often.

As far as PhD programs go, they&#039;re often structured where you earn an MA en route to the PhD.  Many people do drop out of PhD programs after earning their MA (for one reason or another), but they did enjoy the benefit of funding to complete their degree.  Is the Linguistics programs you&#039;re interested structured differently?</description>
