carphone warehouseIn an ageist move, the UK’s Carphone Warehouse denied internet access to a woman because of her age.

The 75-year-old Greening-Jackson was told she could not obtain service unless she had a younger person with her to read her all of the fine print on the forms.

Said a company spokesperson (as reported in the Daily Mail), “..anyone over 70 might not understand the contract. She said, ‘If you would be prepared to go to the shop in town and take a younger member of your family we might give you a contract.’”

What a backlash this could be.  This implies that the Queen of the nation in question could also be denied access through their policies.

I wonder how that would go down.
