podcamp

podcamp

I haven’t done many podcasts.  I do listen to a lot, though.  When I say a lot, I mean…a lot – more than 100.  I also watch videopodcampAZ casts.  I enjoy them.

When I first saw PodCamp AZ come up, I talked to  my department’s director.  I thought it was a good networking opportunity for us.  I still think that.  Plus,  our university is looking into setting up  iTunes U and it would be good to  get a feel for what is going on with others (even if I listen to their podcasts).

In addition, these kinds of conferences (or unconferences, if you may) are good experience for me. I want to go in to my doctoral program with this kind of experience as well as the educational experience.  The more I can bring to the table when I apply to programs, the better off I am.

I will probably twitter from the event.   I’ll probably be taking photographs, as well.  I can’t imagine not doing one or the other (if not both).  There should be some great networking going on.  I’m looking forward to it.

onslaught

This is the best Dove commercial yet.As I wrote to my brother, this little girl reminds me of my niece, Willow; not only because she’s a redhead but because I have wondered what she sees every day.

It makes me want to be a better woman so she has one more woman (besides her mom) who she can see as strong, independent, and not willing to compromise my beliefs to fit in with what society deems is appropriate (and what may go against my own ideals).

  • researching a new vehicle – but since I don’t know where I’m moving, 4×4 or Prius. Hmmm. If it’s the south, Prius. North = 4×4 #
  • trying to define “identity” through rhetorical theorists…who knew it could be so difficult? #
  • argh…I’m going to have to quote K. Burke AND the post-structuralists…I’m doomed *sigh* #
  • @cogdog you’re loud and clear (and visible) :-) #

  • so iPhone SDK is going to be the “it” topic today? #
  • @DaveWares thank you so much. beebo_wallace took me out to one of his favorite haunts in rural north carolina and I got that one #

  • @Raoul I’ve taken it once. I just hate that standardized tests are required to get in to programs. I have very little respect for it. :-) #
  • @textbench hah! and that surprises you? ;-) #
  • @textbench you know what makes me shake my head? If we behaved the same way, the gov’t would be all over us (and frequently are). #
  • @textbench Heh, yes, indeed. #
  • @yndygo it’s not actually the taking them that bothers me (I’m good at them). It’s that they don’t fairly assess someone’s skills… #
  • …some people are good at taking tests, others aren’t. But that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t be good in a program. #
  • ok…end rant. :-) I have a thing about standardized assessment if you can’t tell. #
  • @rubenerd I’m sorry to hear that. I hope they are able to find a treatment for her. #

  • @Raoul ooooohhhh…the pre-release reviews have been good. Can’t wait to hear more about that camera. #
