new
2A quick update: I added a new plug-in to my blog: a library (it’s also in the sidebar to the left). You can see what I’ve read, am reading, and will read.
Mostly I did this for miss ashley, because she likes to know. :-)
Back to your regularly scheduled programming (with an advertisement that I will blog again soon — just as soon as my wrists allow me to write more than the work I’m working on).
new directions
0With the changing of my blogging clothing, I’ve decided to add a bit of academia to my blog.
Above the first post on my blog, there is an announcement box. In this box, I will be posting rhetoric/composition/scientific & technical comm conferences and calls for proposals/papers.
Mostly this is for me, because I can’t keep up with all of the deadlines and opportunities. But I think it’s also a great way to share this with other people who might be interested in seeing what is available out there.
If you know of a conference / CFP in these areas, please send me an email. I’ll get it posted.
new clothes
0It was time for a new look. Along with the new look, my twitter tweets will no longer be populating my blog. I’m doing this for a few reasons:
- I think it’s boring for you, my readers (if there are any of you left)
- It’s delayed, so the information is often a few days old by the time it even posts.
- It’s a bit disjointed for you, since you only see one side of the conversation.
I have, instead, posted my friendfeed in the sidebar. You can see what I’m linking to, what I’m sharing on Twitter, etc., if you’re interested.
I will be posting more about my academic pursuits in the fall. Between now and then, it will probably be focused on moving, selling my house, etc.
I hope you’re not even more bored and will stick with me.
comment issues
0I know that if you’re a new commenter on my site (never commented before), you might be getting 403 Forbidden errors. I have listed it on the WordPress site and am looking for feedback.
If you enter a comment, I am getting them (they are going to my moderation files).
I’ll let you know when things are working again.

I will rarely make the leap to change the style of my web site unless something really prompts me to do so.
Yesterday I was fixing something and I deleted my header. So, I took a line from one of the people who was putting down blogs (on the suggestion of a friend) and put it up for my header for now.
Didn’t I have backups, you may ask? And how did I do that, you may query.
Well, Dawn, being the very smart woman that she is, uses that little box in Dreamweaver to upload to the server and sync the local files upon save.
Ahem.
That means that not only did I overwrite on my server but also on my local drive.
So, this is the thing. I can create a new banner or I can redo the entire site.
I’d like feedback from you first, though.
Are the colors okay for you? Can you read the site okay? Is there a difficulty seeing anything?
How about the width of the blog? Is it wide enough or would you like to see it wider? Would you prefer that it line up to the right or is centered fine?
Any feedback is welcome. I may not take the suggestions but I do want to know what y’all think because I want this to be an enjoyable experience for all of us.
Thanks!
regularity
0I've decided that I'll only be writing in this blog once a week. Otherwise, I get too overwhelmed.
Every Sunday, I will add a new post.
Keep checking back.
problems with comments
0It seems that there have been problems with commenting on my blog lately. I installed an anti-spam plug-in that affected the comments.
I have deactivated it and comments should be working now. If you have any problems, please leave me a message and I will work on it right away.
My apologies for any problems you may have had to deal with during this. I am setting up a test weblog to try out different plug-ins before I load them into this one so that I won’t have this problem any further.
